I'm linking up with Sheaffer Told Me To The Larson Lingo and Mix and Match Mama for What's Up Wednesday today.

We went to a party last week and I brought these Salted Caramel Pretzel Bars from mixandmatchmama.com. Kyle and his friends tore into them and they were gone in record time, so I made some more yesterday. They are almost gone again.
What I'm Reminiscing About
I wrote an article for Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League yesterday about talking to your youth athlete this season. As soon as I had honed in on the topic, this picture from 2009 popped into my head and I spent about an hour searching old photo files to find it. I feel like 8 year old Kyle has decided that if he closes his eyes he not only won't have to look at his Coach (dad), he won't have to hear this pep talk he's getting either. I think he's in Disney World in his mind.
What I'm LovingFrom Lisa Whittle's Instagram Page |
What I loved this summer was spending it in running clothes, my hair on top of my head and no makeup. Until I saw this which reminded me that the image in my head wasn't the reality.
What We've Been Up Tousatoday |
This family barely missed a pitch of the Little League World Series. It's my favorite sporting event in the whole wide world and we were thrilled to see the Hawaiin team win it for the US. My husband predicted they'd win the whole thing when he saw them plalying early in their Regional tournament which led to my son wondering if we should have called into Vegas way back in July. This team was practically flawless. So exciting.
What I'm Dreading
Not a thing.
Last night we had our Women's Fellowship Kick Off event at our church and it was so great to see so many women gathered. I am working on getting ready to co-lead a Bible Study for the first time this fall. We'll be studying Discerning the Voice of God by Priscillia Shirer, so I'm making notes and spending time in scripture, and watching her amazing teaching. If you're in our area and want to join us, you can register here.
What I'm Excited About
My Stitch Fix box for September arrived and it is great! I loved most of the pieces I received. Stay tuned for a Stitch Fix Review post next week. Want to try? Go here.
What I'm Watching
I had started watching a few episodes of Younger earlier this summer It's a comedy about a woman in her 40s who lies about her age to get a job in publishing. It's not at all one that my boys will be interested in watching, so I think I'll get back into it now that school has started.
What I'm Reading
Whenever a movie comes out based on a book that it seems I might have liked, I always feel like I have to read the book first so I ran out and got Crazy Rich Asians so I could read it before seeing the movie.
What I'm Listening To
A new season of the Bible Binge podcast started this week and it is one of my favorite podcasts in the world, so I'll be listening to that while running errands all week. Also, there are some pretty rough situations happening for some of my close friends right now and some pretty big questions I have for the Lord. That's got me listening to Ellie Holcomb's Red Sea Road album, especially the song Find You Here. Her music always makes me remember that the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow and that He is eternally and forever for us. Nothing can separate us from Him. I'm so grateful for people who use their talents to write music for Jesus. It is a surefire way to remind me of His promises.
What I'm Wearing
These Franco Sarto wedges have been my favorite sandals this summer. They are so comfortable and I've been wearing them almost everyday lately.
What I'm Doing This Weekend
I'm so excited that my Texas Longhorns will be right here in my neck of the woods this weekend to play Maryland at FedEx Field. We've got our tickets and our Horns gear and we will not be defeated. Not this year. Not on my watch. (Please Jesus - a little help, Lord?)
What I'm Looking Forward To Next MonthImage from Metro Baseball Facebook Page |
I'm looking forward to the routine of being back in school around here. Also, Fall Baseball starts for Drew next weekend and Kyle will begin some basketball tournaments with the high school team. I'm so ready to watch them play again.
What Else Is New
Lots of changes. Joe back at Penn State for his sophomore year, Kyle entering his senior year in high school, and Drew starting his last year in middle school has my head spinning some days. These time's they are a-changin' whether we like it or not. I'm trying to breathe deeply and be grateful, rather than looking back. Life is good and blessed and hopeful and God is faithful as always.
Have a great September, Friends.
