5 Friday Favorites: February 22, 2019

Happy Friday, Friends.

It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of EverythingGrace and Love, and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Here we go. Happy Friday!

1. Gap Factory Mid Rise Boyfriend Jeans

I bought these jeans recently. They are a steal at $34.99 and I love them. I just cannot with the high rise jeans these days. I don't get it. I want to have interventions with all the high school girls to tell them that they are wasting their best butt years wearing jeans that are the enemy of their bottoms. But alas, I don't know if they'd take advice from a woman who sits at her computer in mismatched pjs most of the day. In any event, these are great. They are not high rise, but not too low either. Which is why I suppose they're called mid rise. You're welcome for the extra time you spent reading that sentence. I'm sorry you can't get that time back.

2. The Road Back to You

I've been hearing about the Ennegram personality test a lot in the past few years, so I figured I should see what all the fuss was about. I recently checked out this book from the library. I had taken the Meyers-Briggs test years ago, but I never remember what my letters are. In reading the basic descriptions, I found that the #9 represents a person who is a peacemaker and doesn't like conflict which is what has been said about me my whole life. I took the test three times trying not to be a 9. Apparently, I'm a 9 - three times in a row. I'd love to hear from you if you've taken the test or know anything about the Ennegram. I find it fascinating.

3. People Who Make Social Media Less of a Dumpster Fire

Social media has the ability to make me think the world has gone straight up cuckoo for cocoa puffs and that we're all minutes away from the Lord just saying, "I am so done with y'all." This is when I have to realize that nobody makes me follow people who cause me to want to pull my hair out. That's on me. So, here are some things that made me think we're all gonna be okay this week.

First of all, this little girl dancing to Beyonce with a corny dog gave me no end of joy this week. Check out her moves HERE. Your day will get better INSTANTLY.

Also, all of this.

4. Bath and Body Works Sleep Body Wash

When you get to number 5 on my Favorites this week you will realize that I take my sports very seriously. That's if you're new here because if you're not new, you're well aware that I am some where north of "very intense sports fan" and just south of "Eject that Woman, Please". Therefore, when I arrive home from a playoff basketball game as I have five times in the last couple of weeks, I sort of feel as if I have just drunk seventeen Venti Starbucks Double Shot Espressos. My saving grace and the only way I get to sleep is this bubble bath with lavender and cedarwood which I dump into my bathtub every night. It's amazing.

5. My Kid & His Teammates Bouncing that Ball Around

Listen, it is what it is. I'd like to mention a new mascara, but I'm back to the obvious. My very favorite thing this week and honestly the only thing I've been thinking about besides the fact that I need my hair highlighted like I need to breathe is Kyle's Varsity basketball team.

There were some dark moments for this team in the middle of the season, but they've played lights out in their last five games, breaking school records and making life so much fun. Last night they won a game to guarantee a spot in the state tournament and also it turned out to be a game that tried to kill me. At one point we were up by 20 points until the opposing team staged a heckuva a comeback effort to cut our lead to 1 point. ONE POINT, I tell you.

I'm grateful that our kids didn't panic and held their lead in the end. I'm grateful for one of my besties who doesn't even have a kid on the team, but sits beside me (always on my right side because sitting to my left is obviously bad luck) and informs me that I don't have to hyperventilate anymore because it would be practically mathematically impossible for a team to score 6 points in 1.3 seconds and beat us. I'm grateful for friends who send texts and show up to sit in the same spot because again, seating arrangements are part of the game strategy. I'm grateful for people whose hands don't shake as much as mine do during games and who take amazing photos. And I'm so grateful to my kid who has worked his skinny little butt off for so many years to get to these moments and his teammates who have done the same. Take all the joy in, boys. You deserve it.

Happy Weekend, Friends. Take joy. :-)
