5 Friday Favorites: March 6, 2020

It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of EverythingGrace and Love, and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote or Bible verse, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

1. The Peanut Butter Falcon

Actually, this movie is not technically a favorite from this week. We watched this over Christmas break and it was such a sweet, funny movie. It's PG-13 because of some language, so you have to use your judgment, but this is one I think you can watch with the whole family.

2. Lovelier Lace Tee from Sundance

I saw this lace tee pop up on social media. It comes in four different colors and I think it is so pretty. Unfortunately, it's also pretty pricey. It reminds me of this one that I got around Christmas time which is not anywhere near as expensive. I've worn it a lot and the quality is surprisingly really great for the price.

3. CC Thick Cable Knit Beanie with Faux Fur Pom

I actually bought this adorable beanie with the faux fur pomp at one of my favorite shops in Knoxville, Tennessee. I saw it here on Amazon though and it comes in a zillion colors. It is so cute and the best part for me is that it isn't itchy. Since Baseball season officially starts for us tomorrow with a 9:30 am scrimmage, I'm reminding you, "spring" sports moms that you have been lied to. It ain't spring, Sister. Bundle up. You can find your kid's team color and keep your noggin warm. These are less than $20.

4. NutPods Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Creamer

This is how I've been feeling about the whole Coronavirus situation.

I was totally calm and thinking everyone needed to just chill the heck out until my friend told me that due to this hysteria "they" were projecting a Diet Coke shortage. So pretty quickly I was all:

and also:

Anyway, that made me think of the fact that I was now panicking about the panickers. So I decided I would stock up on some Diet Coke, wine, and Coffee Creamer because those are items that I will put on the mountain I'm willing to die on when push comes to shove. I've been trying to move away from the chemicals and sugar in my go-to Coffee-Mate creamer and recently my sister-in-law found this Cinnamon Swirl Nut Pods creamer. It is unsweetened and made out of coconut and almond milk. It is really, really good and the best part about it is that she sent me a 3-pack that you can buy at Amazon right here.  Bring all your pandemics and epidemics. I will not be defeated.

5. Every Broken Thing: A Lent & Holy Week Guide to Answering Ecclesiastes

I am working through Erin H. Moon's Lent Guide, Every Broken Thing, and it has been so good for me. The guide focuses on Ecclesiastes which I have never studied. In fact, the extent of my knowledge of this book of the Bible comes from Kevin Bacon. I saw Footloose five times in the theater wherein our young hero, Ren McCormick, read from Ecclesiastes when he was trying to convince his girlfriend's preacher dad that "indeed there is a time to dance". (Let us pause here to reflect on young 14 year old Jenn staring into space singing "Almost Paradise" and writing "Mrs. Kevin Bacon" all over her Trapper Keeper.)

What I have found out is that  - at least so far - the book of Ecclesiastes seems to be a major bummer. The author is a big time Debbie Downer. Everything is meaningless: wisdom, work, pleasure. Nothing has met this guy's expectations and he is severely disappointed. My man is gonna need to speak to the manager, pronto.  Or perhaps . . .spoiler alert . . .he needs Jesus.

Erin Moon is thoughtful and funny and so very wise. The complementary verses she is picking from the New Testament to answer the angst-ridden questions of Ecclesiastes are encouraging and insightful. I know we are a week into Lent, but I would highly recommend this study. You can purchase it for download here. It's worth the catch up time.

Have a great weekend, Friends!
