It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote or Bible verse, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hi, Friends,
This week felt almost normal and I loved it. There was a lot of baseball including a tournament out of town in New Jersey. We always like to see a nearby college when we visit new places, so we were lucky to get to walk around Princeton University one day after a game. The school was beautiful, but it was a little sad since it was so empty with no students wandering campus these days. We were as safe as we could be - wearing masks when inside or in close proximity to people and ordering carry out for most of our meals. It was different than our other summer baseball trips, but still nice to get a change of scenery and a real blessing for a boy who has been itching to get back on the field. Here are some other favorite things from the week.
1. Knotted Headbands
My sister-in-law ordered a couple of sets of these knotted headbands and only wanted a few from each pack so brought me a whole bunch to see if I'd like some. I've been wearing my hair up and off my face every day lately since it's been 7 million degrees here, so these have been great this week. They come in tons of patterns and colors. The best news is that they are snug enough to stay put, but not so tight they give me a headache.
2. Room and Linen Spray
When a girl is holed up in a little hotel room after being at a baseball park in the 100 degree heat with a husband and a 15 year old for four days she might need to freshen up the air a little bit. This PF Candle Co. Room and Linen Spray was a gift of the Lord in Room 214 of the Town Place Suites this week. I have the Sweet Grapefruit scent which doesn't seem to be available on Amazon anymore, but I found it here. I think this Teakwood and Tobacco scent seems like one that my men might have liked even better.
3. The Lies that Bind by Emily Giffin
I read Emily Giffin's first book, Something Borrowed, probably 15 years ago and haven't missed a book she's written since. I'm not sure if any are as good as that first one, but she definitely has cornered the market on a "summer read" for me. I was so happy to see she has a new novel, The Lies that Bind, out this summer, so I picked it up to read in between innings at the ballpark this week. So far, so good.
4. Eye Stuff
Last week, I talked about "Hair Stuff" and since lipstick is so 2019 since we're wearing masks all the time, I haven't cared too much about "Lip Stuff" this summer. That means that "Eye Stuff" is having a moment in 2020.
Everyone seems to be in love with this mascara, so I had been using it and honestly I don't get what all the hype is. It's expensive and I don't think it's all that great, so I decided to go back to a drugstore brand. I saw this L'Oreal Double Extend Mascara recommended by someone somewhere on the Internet. It has two different tubes in one. You apply the white stuff first and then the black on top. Listen, I have no idea what the magical science is on why or if the white stuff helps your lashes look longer, but I think it actually works. Also, it's less than $10.00, so there's that.
Also, I've mentioned this before, but this Benefit Brow Gel is the actual best. I can't live without it now.
5. Baseball Moments I Had Missed So Much
A sleeping kiddo in a sofa bed in a cramped hotel room at 6:00 am
A Post-Game Chat with Dad
A Happy Smile After a Teammate's Grand Slam
Also, speaking of baseball, I wrote about the NoVa College League HERE which is winding down an amazing inaugural season in the next week or so. Be sure to check out the insane amount of baseball talent we have right here in our backyards in Northern Virginia. What a gift this league has been to players and fans of all ages in our area. You don't want to miss your opportunity to see live in-person baseball before it's gone.
Have a great weekend, Friends!

I just read Emily's book this week and really enjoyed it!
Found out I love knotted headbands a few months ago when I purchased a couple from Wal-Mart. Definitely going to check out the link you provided. May have to get some more!
