On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Good morning, Friends. To be honest, this week was not my favorite week. I had a hard time finding favorite things. It was super busy and there were lots of things I was worried about and my back hurts and blah, blah, blah. So today I'm going to list some favorite things that might help me end the week on a better note. Let's move ahead with hope in our hearts and new pjs on our bodies. Here we go.
1. PJs
If you've read here long enough, you know that I love a new set of pajamas as much as just about anything. My sister highly recommends this set from Target. They come in this blue stripe and a pretty floral.
I also love these pajamas from Amazon. I just can't decide which color stripes. I like the black and the green and the red. Click on the coupon and you can get 10% off.
2. Mary Kay Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask
My sister in law gave me a whole set of Mary Kay products and they are great. If you weren't aware this is not your grandma's Mary Kay. They have all kinds of great skincare products in addition to their make-up. This charcoal mask is amazing and I think it's the perfect thing to deep clean my skin after a summer of so much sweat and sunscreen clogging up my pores. If you don't have a Mary Kay consultant, you can find it on Amazon here.
3. Grace upon Grace: Trusting God No Matter What
I've been reading and listening to Sophie Hudson for years. Her new devotional Grace Upon Grace is meant for teen girls and young women, but I know it's going to be perfect for any age. I won't be able to get this in time for this weekend, but I'm going to pre-order it. What I can do is pull out Sophie's first devotional, All in All, which I have and love. She is so funny and charming and her takes on Scripture are relatable and encouraging. Plus, this cover is beautiful and would make a perfect gift for your new college student or a Christmas gift for your niece or a "I'm Sorry You Had a Crappy Week" gift for any woman in your life.
4. All the Bath Stuff
Every day something else on my body hurts. Last week I thought my left foot was broken for a full five hours and then the next day it was fine. Dear Jenn's body:
Anyway, I plan to spend a very long time in my bathtub at some point this weekend. The Dr. Teal's Eucalyptus and Spearmint Epsom Salts are the very best thing for sore muscles or temporarily broken feet. I love this stuff.
Also, I will be lighting this lavender and cedarwood candle which Joe gave me for Mother's Day. It is the very best and it is really close to gone now, so I'm going to order another one.
Perhaps Eucalyptus, Spearmint, Lavender, and Cedarwood all at once might be a little much, but after this week, I think I'm using anything I can.
5. College Football
My very favorite thing this week was actually the start of College Football. The Virginia Tech Hokies really set us up for joy when they took their field Friday night in front of a crowd that was so loud they apparently registered on the Richter Scale. I could watch this one hundred times and I'm not even a Virginia Tech fan. Hokies, you've done such good work here. Thank you for your service. I am so proud of you.
Kyle's Tennessee Vols won, Joe's Penn State Nittany Lions won, and best of all, my Texas Longhorns won at home with our new QBs looking just fine, thank you. I also have already decide that our Bijan Robinson will win the Heisman. I am full of irrational hope and optimism and I can't wait to watch us beat the heck out of Arkansas this weekend.
Well, that's it, Folks. Some days, some weeks, heck, even some years are better than others. Everything's gonna be all right. I pray that just like Bijan, we'll keep heading for the end zone and always looking up to the One who works every single thing out for good. Find some rest this weekend, Friends. I mean, except when you're jamming to Enter Sandman.
