It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Good morning! It's October. It was September for like five mintues. We played Earth, Wind, and Fire and then all of the sudden it was over.
My son is turning 23 years old next week.
People whose diapers I changed are being adults and making decisions about apartments and jobs. Some of them have girlfriends. Some are wearing ties and going to Homecoming and I don't even have to drop them off and pick them up. Recently I was talking to one of them on the phone and in that conversation he asked me about how to roast Brussels Sprouts and also to hang on a second because he was just dusting his ceiling fan. . .
. . . like he was some kind of responsible person who understood the benefits of nutrition and good air quality. And for those of you who know my family, IT IS NOT THE KID YOU THINK IT IS. It's the other one.
Life is getting so weird. Here are some favorites from the week.
1, Andrea's Pulled Pork from Momfessionals.com

My husband makes the best pulled pork in the land, but he does it in smoker with all kinds of spices, a finishing sauce and bbq sauce and it takes a million hours. This week, I needed to do it all by myself and I found this recipe from Andrea at Momfessionals. It was so easy - pork shoulder, Dr. Pepper, onion, bbq sauce, crock pot. 8 hours. Done. My people loved it. Find the recipe here.
2. All the Tennis Shoes/Sneakers
I call them tennis shoes. Others call them sneakers. The important thing is that I call my feet old and they hurt. They ain't playing around with heels on shoes and even wedges are problematic sometimes. Good thing there are so many cute tennis shoes out there. I mentioned these Nera Sneakers from Able a few weeks ago and that it was going to take a lot of will power for me not to order them. Well, my will power failed and now this is me waiting for them everyday.
I bought these Enna Sneakers from Sam Edelman this summer and they are so comfortable and really cute. They are limited in sizes and the price varies, but if you really search you might find your size. Amazon has a few sizes here. Nordstrom Rack has a few here. Dillard's has some here, but for twice as much and apparently they don't do price matching. Hey, Dillards:
Amazon has a bunch of sizes available for these cute Steve Madden Starling Sneakers. They're less than $60.00 and come in a few color combinations.
3. Gold Bond Ultimate Neck and Chest Firming Cream
Speaking of life being confusing, I feel bad about my neck. My sister and I sent a few pictures back and forth to each other of our sad necks this week with the promise that we would promptly delete them. Then I remembered I saw this Gold Bond Neck & Chest Firming Cream some where on some Instagram story and I can't remember who it was, but she thought it was working. I have no idea if it is working because I just bought it this week. It costs less than $10.00 and uses the words "ultimate" and "complex" and I am a sucker. *Sigh*
4. I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman
by Nora Ephron
My neck woes reminded me that I read this book well before I ever felt bad about my neck. My 30ish year old self probably didn't believe I would ever feel bad about my neck, but I was a tiny, dumb baby then. Still, even way back then, this was one of the funniest books I ever read. Nora Ephron is one of a few writers including Kelly Corrigan and Anne Lamott who made me want to write. She was brilliant and I think it's time to revisit this book now that my neck needs its own special firming cream. The book is less than $10, just like the neck cream. For 20 bucks we suddenly have the makings of a nice gift basket for your friend and her sad neck.
5. This Guy
This little boy and I had a great Mom - Son Road Trip traveling for baseball last weekend. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings twice, shared some Combos on our road trip, watched College Football together and danced around in our hotel room to music with highly inappropriate lyrics. The weather was perfect for baseball and he played his little butt off. I can't believe it's already October and I know I'll blink and it'll be November and he'll be 17 years old and only a couple of years away from being out of the house. So, when he fell asleep in the hotel last Saturday night, I snapped this picture. Whenever I post pictures of him he's all, "Bruh, chill." about it, but I don't even care. Gah. I love him so much.
Y'all have a great weekend. Bruh, have zero chill about your kid. Take the picture when you get the chance. It all goes so darn fast.
