5 Friday Favorites: February 4, 2022

It's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Good Friday morning, Friends! We've got a gloomy and rainy day here in Northern Virginia. Shout out to my Texas friends because I know it's freezing down there and most of y'all are out there in your hoodies trying to make it work.

I actually don't mind the rain today because I've got a day full of sitting here at my desk writing and editing. This weekend I'm honored to return to Aldie Methodist Church to deliver the message and my sermon still needs a little work. I don't know how I get away with nagging my boys about procrastination. They clearly come by it honestly. Jesus take the wheel.

Here are some favorites from the week!

1. King Richard

We loved this movie about Venus and Serena Williams and their dad, Richard. I would watch anything in the world with Will Smith and he did not disappoint. Such a great movie and great performances by the little girls as well.

2. 24 K Gold Eye Patches

I ran out of my Pixi Eye Patches recently and I wasn't sure they were good enough to repurchase this time. In fact, Kathleen Jennings, who I follow on IG for all things beauty related, says she thinks they changed the formula. Instead I ordered these 24K Golden Eye Mask Patches from Amazon and I really like them. They are thicker and sturdier than the Pixi so I think they stayed on better. I also think - I *think* - my eyes were less puffy after I wore them. Granted I lost track of time and wore them for like two hours one day, so maybe it was more the length of time and less the patches? One can't be sure, but if you've got a few hours to kill, give them a shot.

3. Karlywindow Women's Long Sleeve Cotton-Linen Blouse

This is a  cotton-linen blend blouse. It's no where near the season for linen blouses. But a girl can dream. I think it's so pretty and it comes in lots of colors. This navy would look great with my favorite Park Lane neckace in the photo above. I haven't ordered the top, but it sure does make me excited for spring.

4. The Best Underwear in All the Land

Men, if you're here, I urge you to scroll along, sirs. I have to bring my favorites - my true favorites - to this space or the whole thing will be a lie. Ladies, these are the best undergarments I have ever purchased. The quest for the perfect underwear can be a tiresome and daunting journey. There are difficult times along the way - lots of tears, lots of frustration, many, many wedgies. And when one triumphs and comes to the end of that long struggle, she is obligated to share her testimony with her fellow weary travelers. As the Bible says, "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, but instead place it on a lampstand so that it gives light to the whole house." My boys might not appreciate my putting my underwear on a lampstand, but I'm here to serve you, friends. You're welcome.

5. Wordle

This week I saw this tweet and it made me laugh, but it also made me tear up a little. What is it with Wordle and how it makes me think we might all be okay? Annie F. Downs asked this very question last week and I really got to thinking about it. I'm a word/trivia game dork already, so there's that. And although I don't share my results on social media, Joe, my mom and I are all three playing Wordle every morning. Then we share our success (or lack thereof) with each other in a text chain we've got going. Three generations connecting every single day. That's pretty awesome, so there's that. And I really do find it truly remarkable that I've never seen anyone ruin it by posting the word. I'm shocked. It's like we're all getting a kick out of something together again. We don't have to argue about it or be on one side or the other. It's just a dumb five letter word. And even though people are sharing, no one seems braggy about it. It's like everyone is cheering each other on and encouraging each other.

What a concept! It's so weird. And lovely. Really, really lovely. I'm likely putting way too much meaning on it, but lovely is hard to find these days, so I'm gonna do it anyway,

Y'all have a great weekend and look for lovely wherever you can find it.
