It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Happy Friday, Friends! My very favorite thing from this week was my bottle of Zyrtec because LORD HAVE MERCY the allergies are killing me. Every St. Patrick's Day I am sneezing into my green beverages, but this year has seemed worse than ever. And I'm sure that in the midst of all that's happening in the world, you are glad to know that I have my priorities in order. (eye roll) Let's move on to some other favorite things instead of talking about my sad allergy issues.
1. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
Y'all. I don't even know what to say about this book. Just that my sister sent it to me. And that it takes you no time at all to read. In fact, as soon as I finished it, I started right over and read it again. Just about every line is worthy of writing on a post it note and sticking to your mirror. It's a great gift for a friend or your kid or for your own self.
I need you to know that as a woman of a certain age, I understand that the ship has sailed on some styles for me. I also need you to know that as a woman of a certain age, I have ceased to care in some cases and I will bring some ships back if I want to. One case would be this pair of overalls that I snagged from Target. My generation of mom friends spent anywhere from 5-7 years in various iterations of the overall genre in the early 2000s. Why? Because they were comfortable and we were all either post-partum, mid-partum or pre-partum so we didn't have the physical or mental capacity to come up with other options. Now I am entering somewhere in the realm of pre-menopause and mid-menopause because my body simply can't seem to decide and these are comfortable and they make me happy. Thank you for reading my essay on why I will wear these overalls if I feel like it, thankyouverymuch.
3. Daisy Earrings
These earrings from Park Lane are so cute and are giving me all the hope that we're moving into spring finally. When I first saw them I thought they would be too much, but they aren't as big as I thought. I think they're a perfect size and will be great to wear with a summer white top and jeans.
4. Knox Rose White Eyelet Top
Speaking of a white top for the summer, I mentioned this one a few weeks ago which I bought in red for Valentine's Day. It also comes in white and it might be the perfect summer top. It's lined and the material is very soft and flowy - not stiff at all. Great quality for the price. Target for the win. AGAIN.
5. The Tournament Which Shall Not Be Named
Well, the madness of the NCAA College basketball tournament has begun this week and it's one of my favorite times of the year except that usually it causes me to behave kind of like this when my dreams get crushed.
For example, last year we had one of the best regular seasons we'd ever had. We won the Big 12 Tournament. My heart was bursting with hope. Then we lost to Abliene Christian University in the first round. What? You haven't heard about the power house basketball program at ACU?
Drew and I have discussed it numerous times this week as the worst loss we have experienced. (I have never claimed that we are normal or reasonable around here about sports. Never.)
So I'm trying to be all chill and la-di-da about the whole situation this year. It's a new strategy for me. This will be my mantra all day.
Also, that is an enormous lie. You know it. I know it.
Today Texas starts against Virginia Tech in the first round which happens to be the alma mater of many of my friends and the school many of my favorite kids attend right this minute. Drew and I are at great risk for smack talking and ridicule after this is over. On top of that, my pastor is a Hokie and I wouldn't be surprised if I hear Enter Sandman as I walk into church on Sunday if this thing goes sideways.
Get a grip, y'all. It's just a game. It's just a game. It's just a game.
Hook Em Horns. Hook Em Horns. Hook Em Horns.
Y'all have a good weekend.
