Happy Friday, Friends.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
1. That 70s Show
3. Wedge Sandals
I love a pair of espadrille wedges in the spring and there are tons to choose from now. I have never in my life have heard of Crown Vintage, but I saw these at DSW yesterday and they are so cute and comfortable. They come in two other colors.
4. Neutral Lip Gloss
Among many of my friends - especially those who have seniors - there seems to be a low level panic that we are running out of time to advise, warn, cajole, (nag?) and pour all of our very important wisdom into them before it's too late. Because of this I've really been holding on to the verse from Philippians 1:6 lately which says, "He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus".
No matter what I've done or not done, no matter what I've said or not said, my faith tells me that ultimately, it is not me, but it is the God of the Heaven and Earth - the Creator of the whole darn universe - that is the perfecter of my faith and of my children's faith. He is not finished with me. He is not finished with them. I have to trust His process and His power and His merciful, gracious, never-ending love and forgiveness for my kids. The Lord is pursuing them. He will not be denied. No matter what I say or do, He has the final word. He's working some stuff out both in me and in them. We are obviously going to keep talking to them, but I'm becoming increasingly aware that my voice is starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. Maybe just for today, we love the heck out of our kids and let Him do His work. I've heard this song by Mandisa a gazillion times which is clearly inspired by Philippians 1:6, but I listened more carefully to it when it came on in the car this morning and I felt a great sense of calm. Maybe you need that calm, too, today? Take a listen.
PS Speaking of our teens, it's prom night here. And it's going to pour down rain all day and night. So, I have a special request of my friends out there - especially those of us who went to the prom in the 80s. Y'all. Can we please send up a special prayer for all the girls' hair? I can't even imagine the anxiety attack that my 18 year old self would be having if I thought my hair wasn't going fulfill all of the hopes and dreams I had for it on prom night. Lord, be near and may You send all of Your power and might to the hair products that will be used this evening. Amen.
Happy Weekend!
1. That 70s Show
I'm not sure how many of you have experienced life with that curious creature known as the "senior in high school", but I will tell you that we are at the point where putting the word "school" in that phrase is really not applicable to the situation. With only a few weeks left of the school year, I've found that I am picking my battles and have pretty much decided that asking, "Do you plan to do any sort of homework tonight?" is as relevant as asking, "Do you plan to have a tea party with me tonight?"
Therefore, while I do spend some time encouraging Kyle to focus on finishing his academic year, I also am embracing his true focus which is to finish watching all the seasons of That 70s Show when he gets home from school each day. I missed out on this show when it originally aired, but let me tell you that it is DELIGHTFUL. It's one of those shows where you can't really even pick your favorite character because the ensemble is so good.
The best part of sharing this show with Kyle is, of course, the joy of gifs. For example, due to his raging case of "senioritis", he left the prom permission form that I signed on the very last day it was due in the kitchen minutes after I signed it forcing him to send me a pleading text to bring it up to school later that day. Oh, and also he needed money for the ticket, pleeeaaassseee. And could I order the corsage for his date, pleeeeaaassseee. So now, due to my newfound love of That 70s Show, I can choose from a variety of responses to said texts with things like this:
And then, when I inevitably cave and bring the form and the money to school and then run to three different places to order the corsage, the kid sends me this one.

GAAAAHHHH. Boys. I'm undone by them.
2. All the Green for Spring
This spring is going to be so fun around here with all kinds of graduation parties, Mother's Day, and a family baby shower. That has me looking around at all the fun spring dresses and rompers lately. My friend, Nancy, sent me a photo of this Greta Gingham dress on a mannequin at Anthro the other day saying this was my perfect dress. I love it. I love the green. I love the gingham. I love the back detail. I love the fact that I got an Anthropologie gift card for my birthday that I haven't used yet. Then she called and we talked about it and she mentioned the truth that it could look great on or I could end up looking like I'm wearing a picnic blanket. Crossing my fingers that it's the former.
I also saw this adorable romper at Loft last weekend. I think it's too short for me, but maybe not for you. It's listed as $79.50, but is 50% off today.
Lastly, I thought this jumpsuit from JCrew was kind of cute, but what I really like are the model's earrings which are not even available on the site. The jumpsuit is on sale, but there are not very many sizes left. Honestly, I wanted to list this because I feel like we all to take a moment to send our thoughts and prayers to JCrew. Also, "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON WITH YOU PEOPLE?" I understand that Jenna Lyons, their creative director and president, apparently left a couple of years ago and it is obvious this has been a tragic turn of events. There is so very little that I like on their site these days. Listen up, JCrew. Figure your stuff out. Come back to us. This is unacceptable behavior and we will not stand for it. Thank you and Good Day.

4. Neutral Lip Gloss
I have so many lip sticks/glosses in my purse it's embarrassing because it seems I'm always on the quest for a new color. I love a neutral color in the spring and summer either to wear alone or to wear on top of a brighter color to make it more subtle. Subtler? Is that a word? This is why I'm not a beauty blogger. Anyway, I've got three favorite neutral lip colors in my bag right now. I've had this one from L'Oreal Paris 8 Hour Pro Gloss in Coral Sands forever. It has a little shimmer to it and it's great over the top of brighter colors.
I just picked up this NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee based on a recommendation from this blog and I really love it. It has a slight pinkish tint and also is great alone or over the top of another color.
Also, I've bought this Neutrogena Moisturesmooth Colorstick in Warm Caramel many times over the years and it's great. This one can definitely be worn all by itself. All of the Neutrogena colors are great.
5. Unfinished by Mandisa
