5 Friday Favorites: November 19, 2021

It's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Good Morning! I was in Dallas all week and just got back to Virginia last night. It was a beautiful week in Texas. I spent time with my mom, dad, and sister, ate my favorite Al Carbon Nachos from Mi Cocina on two different occasions, and enjoyed frequenting a number of establishments where this guy always seemed to show up.

Gosh, I love my home so much. #texasforever  Here are some other favorites from the week.

1. Mom Jeans Please on Instagram

My sister introduced me to my very favorite new follow on Instagram. This is why I'm glad the internet was invented. Thank the Lord for the funny, smart people in the world. They make everything better.

2. Back Home Ballers

This is one of my very favorite SNL skits of all time - especially after my kids went to college and came home for Thanksgiving. Prepare yourselves, Mamas of Freshman in college. This is incredibly accurate.

3. Jijamas Brand PJs

I know I have talked about pajamas on my Friday Favorites lists numerous times over the years. That's because pajamas are my love language. I received a pair of Jijamas brand pjs probably five years ago and they are still the very best set of pajamas I have ever owned. I will stand by this statement forever. I buy other pjs because I have a problem, but there are none that compare. These are not cheap, but again, I still wear mine that are five years old and they are in great shape. This is a slam dunk of a gift. Promise. Short sets and a robe are available, too. Absolutely worth the money, in my opinion.

4. Head Lightz Beanie

Y'all. It gets dark so darn early right now. .And I have to walk my dog and I cannot see a darn thing. And I have to hold my darn phone with the flashlight on and the darn leash and the darn dog poop bag. It's just too much. (Please send up your prayers for my difficult existence.) Look what I found on Amazon though! This cute hat has a light on it! WHAT?? Do you have someone who runs in the dark? Or someone who walks the dog in the dark? Or someone who would appreciate being the hero if the power goes out this winter? Or someone who just wants to look like some kind of BOSS walking around with a light on his head? Here it is. It comes in lots of patterns and solids.

5. Surprise!!!

My sister told me a few weeks ago that she was going to fly in to Dallas from where she lives in California to visit for a few days. And I can't let her be the best daughter. That's unacceptable. So I made a reservation to come in a couple of days after her. We decided we wouldn't tell my parents. She told them she was going to go to brunch on Saturday morning with a friend and came to pick me up at the airport. Then I just walked right into my parents' house as if it was no big deal and surprised the heck out of them.

It was the BEST. I highly recommend surprises. They're a whole lot of fun. I also recommend sisters (in real life), brothers (calling multiple times a day in order to not miss the fun), burgers, adult beverages, and watching Baylor beat OU on the big TVs at a place called Standard Service in Heath, Texas on a Saturday afternoon. It was an A+ Day.

The Lord is good. Even though 2021 will never go down as one of my favorites, it will be a year when I found out that everything I thought about God was true. So, in many ways, I'm grateful for this crappy, weirdo year where He has shown me that if I open my eyes wide and seek with intention, I will watch how He can make beauty out of ashes. Have the best Thanksgiving week, friends, and thanks for stopping by.
