5 Friday Favorites: February 18, 2022

It's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Hey, Friends! Happy Friday! I've got a couple of speaking events coming up so I have to hustle because I blocked off today as a writing day when I'm required to write words that aren't regarding how to keep my eyebrows from disappearing or what my favorite depuffing mask is. Those words are a lot harder to come by, so I have to get to it. Here are some favorites from the week.

1. Benefit Gimme Brow

I cannot even count the number of times I've mentioned Benefit Gimme Brow here, but I forgot to bring it with me this weekend to Knoxville and I would have just as soon forgotten my contacts and been blind the whole weekend. So I thought I would mention it again because it truly might be my favorite beauty product right now. For some reason my eyebrows have completely disappeared from my face. I cannot live without this eyebrow gel. It's the very best.

2. Able Rose Sweater

I don't wear sweaters very often. I want to, but I can't wear wool and that can make it slim-pickins' for me in the sweater department. I took a chance on this Rose Relaxed Tunic Sweater from Able because it was already on sale and last week there was an extra discount. It's 100% cotton and is so comfortable and slouchy. I love it.  Also, it runs pretty big, so I needed a different size and Able makes returns so easy.

3. Full Out: Lessons in Life and Leadership by America's Favorite Coach by Monica Aldana

You cannot believe how excited I was when I received this AUTOGRAPHED book in the mail from a friend and (high school cheer teammate!) of mine who lives in Corsicana, Texas now and is a friend of Monica Aldana. You would have thought I had won the lottery. The only problem was that Steve and Drew had no idea what my excitement was about because they are dumb boys who never watched Cheer with me. Thank you to my friend, Sarah, for understanding my special brand of obsession with the gang from Navarro Junior College and getting me this special surprise. I cannot wait to read it!

4. Z Supply Solid Black Mini-Dress

I bought this dress at Just For You in Knoxville which is the cute boutique where Kyle's girlfriend works. If you're not as tall as this model it is not a mini-dress. Plus you can really adjust where the waist band falls to change up the length. The material is a gauzy, soft fabric and it's such a cute, versatile dress. I can't wait to wear it.

5. A Trip To Knoxville

Lonesome Dove in Old City. The Cumberland Hotel on White Avenue. McAlister sandwiches and a visit with Steve's aunt and uncle who are 89 and 90 and as entertaining and lovely to be around as anyone in the world.

A Tennesse Vols basketball game with Steve's cousin and his wife who also happen to be two of my favorite people in the world where I got a "fancy seats" bracelet to add to my Park Lane jewelry. ;-)

A drink at Peyton Manning's bar. A precious girl who chats with me about all the things and said the sweetest thing a 50+ year old mom could hear: "No! That dress is NOT too short for you. It's looks so cute. You should get it!" I do not recall my sons ever saying words so beautiful to me. I got the dress.

A good-bye breakfast of biscuits and gravy AND fried chicken. And best of all: being with those boys (minus one) of mine. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. Gosh darn it, I love those weirdos and Knoxville, Tennessee, once again, did not disappoint.

Y'all have a great weekend and make sure you remember to be grateful for your weirdos.

I love that brow gel too. Too bad we don’t know one another - I would have run some down to campus for you!
Glad you had a great time in K-town and good luck with your upcoming talks.
