5 Friday Favorites: September 16, 2022

It's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Hello.

Below is a look at Steve, Drew and me last weekend at around 2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time in a bar somewhere in Charlottesville, Virginia, as we watched the Texas Longhorns kicker attempt a field goal to go ahead of Alabama.

It was good and we were beating Alabama with just over a minute to go in the game. And this is what I looked like at that point.

Soon after, I got a text from one of my college besties because she understands my special brand of crazy-pants-banana sandwich-nutjobness in regard to our team.

Also at that point some guy at the bar where we were watching turned around and said to me, "You know, it's not over. There's time for Alabama to come back." And I was pretty much like this except I wasn't drinking tea. ;-)

I will not tell you what I said to this gentleman in my head. Because my mom reads this.

What I said instead was, "I know how football works, sir. Thanks."

It wasn't my finest moment. But I was well aware that Bryce Young had every intention of taking his team down the field and beating us. Which he did. We were supposed to lose by 20 and we lost by 1 measly point, so this is how I feel about my team.

And this is how I feel about the refs:

Let's move on. Here are some favorites from the week:

 1. The Aggies Lost to App State.

Just kidding. I really am. We play UTSA this weekend with most of our team broken and bruised after last week, so to say my level of concern is high is an understatement.

1. Essie Expressie Bolt and Be Bold Nail Polish

I found this burnt orange-ish nail polish yesterday and since I am so proud of my Longhorns and fall is here-ish, I'm going to be ready for the UTSA game tomorrow and so will my fingers and toes. Also, I'm headed to the Tennessee - Florida game next week in Knoxville. This is not the right orange for the Vols and even though I love my Tennessee Vol, that orange is painful to look at and there is only so much a girl and her fingers and toes are willing to do.

2. Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift and Firm Hydra Gel Eye Patches

I've tried all kinds of eye patches from cheap to expensive because I'm obsessed and vain. You can pray about that, if you wish. Thank you. I bought these yesterday because one of my friends claims they are the absolute best. Also, will you look at how many words are in the name? So many words. They must have something going on in there. For these reasons, I am calling them a favorite before I've actually tried them. They sure as heck better be because they are stupid-expensive. (You may add "stupid" to "obsessed" and "vain" in your prayer journal.)

3. Denim Dress for Fall

I've been wearing dresses all summer and I'm not ready to stop, so I've been searching for dresses to wear during the fall. I think this one would look cute with cowboy boots, booties, or fun tennis shoes.

4. Korks Wendy Clog

I can't stop thinking about clogs. I'm worried I won't be able to walk in them because it's seems that after 50, things that used to be easy  - walking, sleeping, NOT BEING BLIND - are super challenging now. My thought is that a heel strap will be advantageous. I think these are so cute and the strap might be key to the putting one foot in front of the other requirement of walking.

5. Brothers

These photos came up on that darn Facebook Memories alert this week and as happens frequently lately, I almost had to take to my bed. Having two older brothers can be a challenge, but this summer was the first time I could see that these boys are going to be the best of friends for the rest of their lives. They are brutally hard on each other at times, but I know - whether they admit it or not - that they love each other fiercely. They are each other's biggest fans. I'll never forget this day when the little one had his first game in any sport and Joe and Kyle cheered for him - along with Kyle's buddy, Drew - as if it was the Super Bowl.

Ok. That'll be all for today, friends. I'm off to listen to Time in a Bottle.
Have a lovely weekend. GO HORNS.
