It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hey, Friends! We are well into September now and that means College Football Season which for me also means this:
I have come into this season with low expectations. Very easy breezy about the whole situation. Whatever, man. All that. Which I hope will serve me well since tomorrow at 11:00 AM CST my Texas Longhorns play a little-known-down-on-its-luck team called the Alabama Crimson Tide coached by some guy by the name of Nick Something or other. You've probably never heard of them.
College Game Day will be in Austin. Kirk and Lee and the gang will set up shop right there in my favorite city in all the world in my favorite place in all the world. And I will actually be at my son's baseball game in Charlottesville all morning and during the entire game which I feel like is maybe just evidence of the Lord's protection. He doesn't want me to lose my ever-lovin' mind, so He has seen fit to provide some distance for me with a 9:00 AM baseball game and a 1:00 PM baseball game. Jeremiah does say that His plans for me are good and not for harm. He knows what He's doing.
Here are some favorite things from this week, not the least of which include the fact that the Texas Longhorns are undefeated in 2022 for at least the next 28ish hours.
1. The Bear on Hulu
At the outset let me say that there is some foul language in this show. "Some" is putting it mildly. My word, the number of F words. Goodness, so many F words. All of the F words in all of the F word forms. I love this show so far though. The characters are charming and compelling and after only three episodes, I'm hooked.
2. G Hughes Sugar Free Sauces
My people love BBQ sauce and one of the easiest meals for me to make the guys during the school year is any type of meat in the crockpot with BBQ sauce. We are trying to cut down on sugar around here so this week I put two packages of Trader Joe's Frozen Turkey meatballs, 1 bottle of
G. Hughes Sugar Free BBQ Sauce, and about 3/4 of a jar of Sugar Free Grape Jelly in the crockpot and served it over rice. It wasn't fancy, but it was easy and they loved it. We also love G. Hughes Sugar Free Yum Yum Sauce. Tons of options of
different sauces here. I'm going to give some others a try.
3. AromaTech Santal Oil for Diffusers
We haven't exactly cooled off too much yet here in Northern Virginia, but I'm ready for Fall which means I'm ready to break out
this Santal oil for my diffuser that I bought last year. It smells so good and reminds me of cooler weather. Love it.
4. Supergoop Sunscreen
I know we're close to the end of summer, but I'll be at baseball fields throughout the fall and I don't know if you've heard, but the sun doesn't care what season it is. It is going to try to poison us no matter if it's July or September. My friend, Keri, brought this ginormous bottle of
Supergoop sunscreen to our lake trip last weekend and I loved it. Maybe you don't need this big of a bottle, but it seems like it's a good thing to have if you've got a bunch of littles or a lot of big kids who think they are invincible and don't need sunscreen. I found that for some reason, the pump makes it easier for the big kids to be willing to use it. Also, it smells really great and dries quickly.
5. Maria Shoes from Target
Usually my number 5 favorite finds me getting a little wordy about something the Lord has put on me that week or something I'm trying to work out in my heart and soul. I'll be honest and tell you that my brain and my heart and my soul are feeling too tired for coherent thoughts today. It's basically time for college application season. We're still navigating the future for the littlest kid (who isn't actually all that little) in my life. It's consuming and the Lord and I are having so many conversations about the future He has in store and trust and letting go and even though this isn't my first rodeo, it seems I haven't really worked out much in that area - at least today I haven't. So let us distract ourselves with shoes, shall we?
I do not in any way need another pair of tennis shoes (aka sneakers if you aren't from Texas or the South). If I did need these,
I would get these. And if Alabama crushes us tomorrow, then maybe these shoes will be made for such a time as this. They also come in red and white, but that's too close to Crimson. Nobody needs that negativity in their life.
Y'all have a great weekend. And HOOK 'EM HORNS. How 'bout we shock the world? That'd might be fun.
