I'm linking up with Sheaffer Told Me To The Larson Lingo and Mix and Match Mama for What's Up Wednesday today.
What We're Eating This Week
What I'm Reminiscing About
What I'm Loving
Joe has an internship this summer at the morning show of a DC radio station. He has to be there at 4:00 am and gets home around 10:30 am each morning. So everyday I get to tiptoe around these two as they nap on the couch together. Insert all the heart eyes emojis. PS Mack feels as deserving of the nap as Joe since he daily saves our entire family from the vicious butterflies and/or leaves that flutter outside of our kitchen window. It's an exhausting job for him, so please keep it down.

What I'm Doing This Weekend
What Else is New
Well, due to the fact that Steve and I spent the weekend in Nashville eating all the things, this week I've been trying to detox myself. Let's just say that when you order Redneck Nachos from one place and Southern Nachos from another within a 24 hour period, it might be time to blend up few vegetables and fruits. I do, however, feel free to put my favorite green smoothie in a mason jar that was filled with something a bit less healthy a few days ago because BALANCE.
What I'm Reminiscing About
Summers with this little freckled faced maniac. Suffice it to say, I could not sit by the pool and leisurely read a book. Oh, but how cute were those chubby sunburned cheeks? I'm certain he's about to say, "Hey, Mom. Hey, Mom. Hey, Mom. Watch this. Watch this. Watch this."

School was out only two weeks ago and we've barely had time to catch our breath. For the kids, there have been two basketball camps and a beach trip for Kyle, a North Carolina baseball tournament and basketball camp for Drew, and the daily grind of having an internship with crazy hours for Joe. For the old people, there was a knee surgery for Steve which I wrote a little bit about here because I want all my readers to that understand that being married for 23 years means that you and your spouse are consistently on the same page and that the "in sickness and in health" stuff is a breeze. Gratefully, June ended in the most fun way, with a weekend trip to Nashville for Steve and me where we had the best time ever. In fact, I don't think there is one person in that city that is not having the best time ever. Here we are dorking out in front of the record studio where Johnny Cash recorded.
I should just take this one off the list. I am not dreading a single thing. It's summer. What's to dread?
What I'm Working On
I have a few devotionals I'm writing for our pastor's summer sermon series including one on the book of Philemon and one on the woman who anointed Jesus in Mark 14. I'm loving using my new She Reads Truth Bible lately to study these scriptures. It's a beautiful Bible if you're still looking for a graduation gift (or really any gift) for a girl in your life.
What I'm Excited About
I really am anxious to have all of my guys in my house all at once. We've been running in a lot of different directions in the past few weeks, so it'll be nice to have everyone in the same place for awhile.
What I'm Watching
I realize that you probably are thinking this must be What's Up Wednesday 2005 edition except I didn't know what a blog was in 2005. Also, I wasn't watching tv in 2005 because I had three boys under 6 years old and I was too busy having light saber wars, nursing a baby, and wondering if I would ever go to the bathroom by myself again in my entire life. I might be the only human being left who hasn't watched The Office. Not anymore, friends. Michael Scott just compared himself to Abe Lincoln, Bono, and God, so I'm pretty sure this show is gonna be my jam.
What I'm Reading
I'm going to tell you honestly and shamefully that what I've really been reading is Twitter lately and I've decided I need a break. Not only because it takes me away from reading actual books, but because it gives me an eye twitch, a stomachache and all manner of other panicked reactions to the state of our union. I'm not making light of the seriousness of what is happening here. It's terrible and complicated and important. I just think perhaps a break from voices on social media might be good for my soul. Twitter is not a news source. It seems to be a place where the most brutal insults get the most traction and a place where I have a tendency to forget that my faith is not in the people who scream loudest on the internet, but in the Creator of the Universe. I cannot allow myself to become undone by the words of any human being when I know where the truth lies. My hope is in a Him with a capital H, not any other him or her. So for July, I'm heading into reading actual news, not opinion (which I contend is hard to find), my Bible and The Royal We which gives me all the happy feelings.
What I'm Listening To
I know I have mentioned The Bible Binge podcast already, but I cannot recommend it enough. I love it. It's hilarious and informative. Season 2 is all about sibling rivalry and I promise you that you will laugh your tail off listening to Episode 9: Rachel and Leah and Episode 10: Joseph and His Brothers. If you can't have a sense of humor about it, skip it, but also, I'd suggest that you get a sense of humor. Life is so much better when we laugh. Carry on.
What
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned this dress from Target's new Universal Thread line. Well, apparently I wasn't the only one who liked it because while we were in Nashville I saw no less than three women wearing it. All the other women I saw were wearing matching bachelorette party tshirts that said "Madison's Getting Smashed In the Nash" or "Caitlin's Last Nash Bash". Seriously, every bachelorette party in the whole U S of A is happening in Nashville right now.
The 4th knucklehead from the left is coming home after being away at the beach with the rest of these knuckleheads and I feel like he's been gone forever. Thank goodness the mom of the 2nd and 5th knuckleheads has been sending all of us moms photos from the week. Our group text has gotten increasingly weepy and emotional as these boys have been friends since they were 8 years old and they'll all be in college next year and leaving us. We can't believe this is happening and I'm thinking that we will start a writing campaign to our congressman today to propose that these boys leaving us should be declared illegal in the state of Virginia.
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
I'm really excited because it's been awhile since we've been in the wedding scene, but next month we have a wedding in West Virginia for Steve's cousin. Also, this is my sweet niece, Jen, and her fiance Patrick who are getting married in October. Next month we're hosting an engagement party for them for which we just hired a taco truck. So July will be about love and tacos. I really can't think of what more you could want in a month.
What Else is New
myjesusjam is my new favorite follow on Instagram. It makes my day so much better.
Have a great Wednesday, Friends!

I tried to listen to the Bible Binge, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I should give it another try! I posted the Taco Tuesday funny on my IG story yesterday! Great minds think alike! It totally made me laugh out loud!
