5 Friday Favorites: September 25, 2020

On Fridays I link up with alittlebitofeverythingblog.com and momfessionals.com to share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote or Bible verse, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Good morning, friends. Let's start here:

From what I hear on the news about online shopping, it appears that the Amazon problem is not mine alone and husbands are getting this look from women all over the nation.

I only ordered one item from Amazon this week. Hold your applause. I think it's a need because masks are making our eyes the only thing on our face that matter anymore. So let's start Friday Favorites with this need.

1. Eyelash Curler

I used to swear by the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but I just recently bought the Tweezerman Great Grip Curler mainly because I had a $17.00 credit and it costs $14.99. Please congratulate me on my financial responsibility and ability to do complicated math. I like this one just fine. It has a firm grip on the lash line and it's cute which is a bonus.

As I was searching for eyelash curlers, I saw this disturbing product. It heats up your eyelash curler. This seems like a mistake. And that's coming from person who has no problem putting acid peels on her face that burn like the fire of thousands suns. However, if you have it, I'm not judging and also, tell me everything about it.

2. Long Sleeve Baseball Tee

Now, going forward - I mean AFTER the eyelash curler, obviously, I don't need anything from Amazon. But if I did, it would be this top. It's so cute and comes in a ton of color combinations and would be perfect at a fall baseball game or just at the grocery store if that's the only place you can go.

3. Knox Rose Long Sleeve Dress

Now, we might need to pump the brakes on Amazon, but no one said anything about Target. Drew had baseball practice this week at a facility that was too far away for it to make sense for me to drop him and come back home. That meant I had two hours to kill, so I had no choice but to walk around the Target close by. I must say they are killing it with the fall fashion. I have not seen the Knox Rose brand at my Target, but they had some really cute things. The photo of this long sleeve dress doesn't do it justice, but I loved it on. It is flowy without looking like you're drowning in fabric. It comes in red and and dark grey and would look great with cowboy boots for your annual friends' trip to Nashville.
(which will likely not happen because of the world being in the toilet and all. *sigh

4. Football Watching Food

Although, we've had some football already, this weekend seems to be the legit start of college football. Texas plays a real team. (God bless you, UTEP. No offense.) The SEC starts up. The big news about the Big 10 starting in October will be swirling and I hear the PAC 12 has just decided to start some time in November. The Lord has heard the cries of His people. Time to start making all the football-watching food. Our family is partial to your basic queso made from a block of Velveeta and a can of rotel tomatoes and chiles because we are sophisticated. However, with the fact that this year's season seems like it could snatched out from under us at any moment, I feel like maybe we need to up the food game while we can. I'm looking to Shay at Mix and Match Mama, who has compiled a great list of all kinds of food to serve your football fans. Check it out here.

5. A Prayer for Your Sons (And Daughters and Spouses and Yourself and Every Single Human)

I think I have mentioned here before that Psalm 91 has taken ahold of me during the pandemic. My friend, Stephanie, a nurse, had suggested it as we were messaging each other back at the beginning of this mess. I set out to memorize it and have repeated it every day since. Different verses have hit me at different times in the last six months. With all my boys under one roof for months on end, I slept pretty well. As two are back at college, I wake in the night - certainly not every night, but more often - thinking too much and praying for their protection. Add to that all the worries about the whole darn world and there are nights when all the things I can't control come into sharp focus. The burdens are heavy these days, friends. And these words put me back to sleep every time. Every. Single. Time.

"Because he loves me", says the Lord, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
Psalm 91:14-16

Have a great weekend, Friends. Go Horns. :-)

Wow, that dress is great. I also don't understand why anyone would like to heat up their eyelash curler. I for one don't use an eyelash curler, but I don't think heat would do any good to your eyes. I will look up Psalm 91 later. I don't have any bit of the Bible memorized, as I wasn't raised with religion and am a very progressive believer now. But I'm sure it'll speak to me.

I have that Target dress upstairs! I just got it in the mail and still need to try it on but I'm already picturing it paired with a long cardigan, a jean jacket..
