5 Friday Favorites: June 2, 2023

It's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Happy Friday! All of my boys are home. It's beautiful and sunny. Our last high school graduation happens tomorrow night and I will never have to read another school email. (or more honestly forget to read a school email and rely on someone more on top of things to tell me what I need to know.) AND our baseball team keeps pulling out the wins. So this is my general mood right now:

Here are some other favorite things from this week.

1. Clinique Almost Lipstick

I love this Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. I wore it years ago and totally forgot about it until I ran across it in Ulta a couple of weeks ago. It's a great sheer, barely-tinted color that isn't too sticky and is great for summer. I will never be without it again.

2. Hoka Running Shoes

I have been wearing Nike running shoes for over 15 years. I'm not one for change even when it comes to my running shoes. But in the last year every time I saw a pair of Hokas I feel like this:

I really, really wanted them to work for me, so when I tried them on a our local running store recently I was excited to find that they were very comfortable. I've run in them a bunch of times since and I love them.

3. Revision Brightening Facial Wash

I've wanted to buy this face wash for a long time because I keep seeing it recommended by people I follow on the Instagram. People I don't know. People who are more than likely filtering the bejeezus out of their faces. I can acknowledge that this makes me very dumb, but the heart (and the really dull skin) wants what it wants. I held strong for years because while I can kind of justify spending a bit more on a moisturizer or serum, I feel like spending a lot of money on something you are literally going to wash down the drain seems like a different level of gullible. So if I haven't talked you out of this yet, here's a link to the Revision Brightening Facial Wash. I love it. It smells amazing and I think maybe, possibly, perhaps my skin is brighter today. Also, I've used it exactly twice, so I have no idea if it really works. It's still one of my favorite things this week.

4. Redken Quick Blowout Spray

While I was in Texas, I had my hair blown out and the gal sprayed it with this stuff before she blew it dry. It smells so good and is supposed to protect your hair from the heat damage of blow dryers of curling irons. As I've mentioned 7 million times, I've lost a lot of hair in the past few years whether from stress or peri-menopause or maybe because life is unfair. Because of that I'm trying all the things to keep in on my head, so this is my most recent effort.

5. A Region Championship Win

We had to hold our breath through the whole thing pretty much because we played a really good team. In the end, the boys gutted out a win coming back from down 2-0 in the 6th to win the Region Championship 4-2.  As you can see I played it really cool as usual. It appears that I don't seem to understand the "act like you've been there before" rule.

Bless my heart and my lucky overalls. We play in the State Tournament next week and I'm just thanking the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Angels, and all the Saints for a bit more baseball. Mostly, I am deeply grateful for these gutsy kids. Most of them have dyed or cut their hair into styles which are not ideal for their graduation pictures. Plus they've been passing a virus through the dugout forcing them to play through all manner of ailments. I have no idea where they come up with all of their crazy dugout antics. One time a light saber appeared out of nowhere. One time it was a sombrero. Sometimes there's a football or basketball involved. They're straight weirdos and I love the fire out of them. Let's go, Eagles. Play on.

Y'all have the best weekend.
