It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Happy Friday. I'm off to Lake Anna with my family so making this quick. Here are some favorites from the last couple of weeks.
1. Jury Duty
2. The Potomac League: Summer Baseball in Northern VA
If you're looking for cheap fun this summer and live in the Northern Virginia area check out the Potomac League College baseball teams that play at Capital One Park in Tysons Corner. The teams are made up of current college players (or rising freshman college players) and the games are really competitive. Beautiful park, food trucks, great music, fun giveaways and summer baseball. What more could you want? It's so fun and only $5 entrance fee. I'm partial to the Yard Dogs, but know a bunch of kids in the league. I'm also partial to getting to watch my kid play with the first baseball player I ever loved. :-) My dad is here to visit and watch his favorite baseball player on the field. Joy at the ballpark. It's the best kind of joy.
3. Two Piece Short Set
I just ordered this two piece short set that looks like a romper, but is less problematic when a gal needs to use the facilities. :-) It is so comfortable. The material is stretchy and lightweight. It comes in a bazillion colors. I'm a big fan.
4. Cotton Shirt Dress
I'm not completely giving up on shorts yet, but my shorts days are numbered. That brings me to casual summer dresses and I saw this one that might be a good option. I'm not sure about the quality of the fabric. At the very least, I think it could be a cute swimsuit cover up. It has pockets which is a bonus and comes in a lot of colors. I like the white and the khaki.
5. The Serenity Prayer
I was missing my mom a lot this week. Well, I miss my mom a lot every hour of every day, but this week was hard. I can do hard things, but things are harder without her. There is no way around it. They are just harder.
The number of times I said, "MOM! This is BS. Come back. RIGHT NOW. I don't know what to do." this week was too many. It was getting kinda weird, actually. So I tried to remember the things she would say to me and to be honest, she almost never told me exactly what to do. But she must have said this prayer to me 7 million times. So that's what I have today. That's what I'll have tomorrow. In every situation that I find myself in when I want to talk to her, I know that nine times out of ten this would be her first response.
I wish you serenity and courage and wisdom today, friends. They are hard to come by, but they are out there somewhere. Have a great weekend.

That short set does look cute BUT, I had to remind myself earlier today when a pair of shorts tempted me that "I never wear shorts". Ever. I buy them and. . .well. . .it's always a tennis skirt. Sigh. But I am putting Jury Duty on my radar because June has been rainy here in East Tennessee.
Grief is so hard - I'm glad that your mother left you with wisdom (and truth!) that you can pull from :)
I have heard so many good things about Jury Duty, I need to watch it! The baseball games sound like so much fun.
