5 Friday Favorites: June 14, 2024

t's time for my Friday link up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Hello, friends! Happy Friday! Hope you had a great week. It feels like it's really summer now as Drew's buddies are all home from college and the high school kids are out today. We've got the College World Series starting today and we're particularly fired up about it this year as we have a couple of local friends playing in Omaha. We'll have the TV on all weekend and I think we'll end up with a bunch of Drew's guys here to watch. And eat, of course. Which means I need to get to the grocery store and load up. Then Drew has his first summer league game on Sunday, so I'll be back in the bleachers for the first time since April.

Life is but a dream, is it not? Here are some favorites from the week.

1. Bissell Featherweight Cordless Stick Vacuum

Y'all. I love my vacuum cleaner. I got it for Christmas. From my husband. And I wasn't mad about it. I know you're sad for me right now. It's so light, I cannot believe it. And there's no cord to trip over. I like vacuuming now. I don't want to say anything else about it because I'm starting to get concerned about who I've become.

2. RYOBI Pressure Washer

Well, friends. It appears it's a new era for Friday Favorites. First a vacuum cleaner and now a Pressure Washer. I bought this pressure washer for Steve for Father's Day, but turns out it is at the top of my list of Favorites from the week. All day yesterday I sprayed the heck out of the screened-in porch, the porch furniture, the outdoor cushions, the railings, the siding and the outdoor rug. Nothing was safe from me. I had a blast.

Send help.

3. Hair & Body Fragrance Mist

Ok. Let's get back on track. When we were at the Outer Banks every time I walked by my niece, Emily, I could not believe how good she smelled. I immediately ordered her to send me the information on whatever magical frangrance she was wearing. I'm bossy like that. She sent me a picture of this Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa #68 Hair and Body Fragrance Mist.Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa #68 Hair and Body Fragrance Mist. Add to cart.

4. Lucia Crossbody

Another favorite this week that I got at Outer Banks was this perfect-for-summer crossbody bag. My very sweet and generous mother-in-law, Carol, accidentally ordered two of these for herself. Instead of returning one, she gave the extra to me! I think the leather tassle is adorable, the strap is super comfortable and it is the perfect size and weight. I'm the luckiest. So let's add Carol to the list of favorites!

5. The College Baseball Play-offs and the Glory of a Walk-Off

You guys. The College baseball. Oh my heart. We've been completely locked in this year. Not that we weren't locked in every year, but this year as I mentioned, we have two guys from our own high school who are playing for teams in Omaha this week. One of them is one of Drew's besties who is a pitcher for North Carolina State and when they punched their ticket to the CWS on Monday night, I almost cried my eyes out. Because about a minute ago Ryan was pitching and Drew was catching him in High School and I guess that means that only five minutes ago Ryan and Drew we're little bitty boys at the local ballpark:

Then suddenly on Monday night, Ryan was on my ACTUAL TELEVISION SCREEN:

Since the Longhorns didn't do the job to get to Omaha this year I can walk in freedom to cheer for any team I choose. I'm all in for the Wolfpack first and foremost and will also be cheering for our other guy, Casey at UNC. My son, Kyle, of course will be all about the Vols and I'm a big fan of the Kentucky coach. Last, of course, whoever is playing the Aggies will be at the top of my list. ;-) Kidding. Kinda. It's going to be so much fun. I know there will be drama and excitement because College Baseball always delivers.

Speaking of that, last week I read something written by Sophie Hudson that was totally in my wheelhouse and made me so happy. She said that years ago she had read somewhere that walk-off wins in baseball should remind us of what it looks like when someone arrives in heaven. I'm going to think of that every single time I see a walk off during the College World Series or at any other game for the rest of my life.

Just so we can practice thinking about that idea, here is a Texas Longhorn walk-off from 14 years ago, Alas, it's the only time we will get to watch the Longhorns until next year. Just imagine a crowd of people freaking completely out as you are rounding the bases and approaching heaven. And then when you get there people who love you meet you at the gates losing their ever-lovin' minds, jumping all over you and whooping and hollering. Baseball keeps giving me all the feels.

As a bonus here is a picture of one of my favorite walk offs in our own life. It was from Drew's sophomore year and I wrote about it here. When I step on the heavenly home plate, I hope it's exactly like this. Seems about right.

Y'all have the best weekend!
