Daybook: Monday, February 25, 2013

Outside my window:
it's dark and cold and I miss summer something fierce right now.
I am thinking:
that there is a reason why God invented the DVR which means that I had no business staying up until midnight watching the Oscars.  Except then I would have missed out on texting with the lovely and talented Mrs. C., who by the way should be in the running for host next year.
I am thankful:
for the fact that there does not yet appear to be a You Tube video of me doing the superfreak when one of the kids on Drew's team hit a 3 pointer with 1 second on the clock to tie the game and bring it to overtime.  We ended up losing, but I am thankful for watching those kids get the gift of that moment.  That little boy's eyes so wide and breaths going in and out in shock and awe?  Those little boys jumping up and down all over him like they'd just won the Super Bowl?  Perfection.
In the kitchen:
Next question, please.
I am wearing:
pink pajamas.
I am listening to:
coffee brewing.  HURRY.
I am going:
to visit our brand new library that opened this weekend to check out some picture books to read to Drew's class this week when I am Mystery Reader.  I'm so excited.  I am such a dork about libraries.  They are happy, happy places for me.
I am wondering:
if I will keep my promise to myself to eat healthier this week.  I've been an utter failure in the vegetable department.  I feel awful and it is totally my fault because I know exactly how to feel better and yet I keep making the wrong choices.  Blah.  Next question.
I am reading:
Sparkly Green Earrings by Melanie Shankle.  Hilarious and sweet.  I'm pretty sure we are soul sisters.  I will possibly stalk her when I come home to Texas next time.
I am hoping:
that no one noticed that I apparently stole a hymnal from church yesterday.  I found one stuffed in my purse after I got home.  I'm sure that was an interesting sight for the folks sitting behind me.  I wonder if they prayed for kleptomaniacs around the world.
I am looking forward to:
a breakfast date with one of my favorite gals this morning.
I am pondering:
THIS ARTICLE by my friend, Elizabeth.  Good stuff here.
A quote for today:
"Compare yourself only to the person you were yesterday, or even just this morning.  Make forward progress." - Again, from Elizabeth Foss.
A verse for today:
"As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with humility, patience and love.  Forgive each other and be thankful." - Colossians 3:12
On my Ipod:
My favorite new song by Third Day.  Looking for two more victories this week for Joe's team, which I realize is no comparison to the Victory they are singing about in this song.  Still, it's fun to blast on the way to the games.
I am praying:
that I won't sob like a baby when Joe's basketball season is over.  He's playing with two of the same kids and the same coach he had when he was in 2nd grade and this is likely the last team they will play on together.  Looking at their 2nd grade team photo and their 8th grade team photo is astonishing.  IT WAS JUST YESTERDAY. I'm getting all choked up just thinking about it.  Seriously, I have problems.  By the way, I am praying for many, many other more serious matters as well.
One of my favorite things:
Oscar dresses.
A few plans for the week:
Joe's team's semi-final game on Wednesday and though Coach won't let us discuss it yet, we will hope for a Championship game on Saturday.  I'll likely show up to watch play-off games for the teams still standing in the other divisions tonight and tomorrow also, even though none of the players on those teams are ones to whom I gave birth because either A) I just want to support the youth of my community or B) HELLO, CRAZY TRAIN?  GET A LIFE.
A peek into my day:
Jealous?  My life is so glamorous.
