It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hello! I'm in Austin today and I scheduled this post to show up this morning, so we'll see how this goes. Maybe you're reading this Friday morning? Maybe you're reading this Friday night? Maybe Saturday? Maybe I deleted it accidentally? Godspeed, Little Blog.
Here are some of my favorite things from the week.
1. The Husbands by Holly Gramazio
I'm not usually into books that aren't based in reality and you'll have to suspend your disbelief for this one, but it's a doozy. A woman discovers when she comes home one day that she has a husband she wasn't aware of having. Then she finds that when he goes up in the attic, a new husband comes down. This happens multiple times. It's funny and bizarre, but also makes some important points about finding contentment and peace in an imperfect life.
2. Nobody Wants This on Netflix
This is the rom-com we've been waiting for. Adorable. Funny. Love it. Please TV-SHOW-CREATING-PEOPLE, more of this.
3. Almond Chicken Tenderloins from Magnolia Table
I've had this cookbook for years, but mostly it just sits in my kitchen because it's a pretty book and Joanna Gaines is a delight to look at. This week I actually opened it up and made the Almond Chicken Tenderloins and we loved them. I found the recipe online here. (I used 1/2 the amount of butter and it was still good.) It is very simple and if I do say so myself, I nailed it. Will this result in my thinking I can shiplap my walls all on my own? Stay tuned.
4. Tie Front Top
This tie front top could be a huge miss, but it's on sale for less than $10 so maybe worth a shot. I didn't buy it, but I saw it on someone online and it looks like it has the potential to be very pretty for the holidays with dress slacks (Slacks? Is that a word anyone uses anymore? Am I my grandmother?) or a skirt. I would wear a tank under it because nobody needs to see my bare skin under those ties. It comes in some other colors as well.
5. Going Back to the Pink House on Pearl
As you read this - if the scheduling situation worked - I am waking up with some of the girls I lived with in college at the Kappa Alpha Theta house at the University of Texas. It was recently renovated so we had a big ol' shindig last night for all the TexasThetas to see our beautiful house with a brand new face lift. Two of my very own pledge sisters were the decorators for the renovation so we are awfully proud of them and if you know Texans, we do pride very well. ;-)
When I think back to walking into the doors of this place - I still remember the code to get in - the overwhelmingly prevalent memory I have is of a bunch of girls I love and who love me laughing our young little collagen-filled faces off. Laughing all the darn time. Laughing is one of my core values. If I ran for president, my motto would be "Make America Laugh Again".
I'm thinking if you want to return to your past, going back to the place where you laughed the most is a good place to start. More on this next week.
Last but not least, Hook Em Horns/Beat Vandy . . . who knew I'd be nervous about playing Vanderbilt in FOOTBALL??? What a world we live in. Happy Weekend, Friends.
