Daybook: In Which I Praise God for Plumbing and Other Blessings/June 3, 2013

Outside my window:
Rain.  Rain.  Rain.
I am thinking:
about gluten free diets which seem incredibly overwhelming to me, but which I think could possibly be the key to my stomach issues.
I am thankful:
for answered prayers!  Last week I asked that you join me to pray for a friend's son who had a doctor's appointment which had the potential to bring devastating news.  The appointment brought this: no fear, no devastation and loads of God's grace.
I am listening to:
Live with Kelly and Michael and a spinning washing machine.
I am wearing:
white t-shirt and running shorts.  I'm thinking these shorts will not be running anywhere today though.
In the kitchen:
the overflowing suitcases that did not make it upstairs after Joe and I got home from his baseball tournament in Newport News, Virginia last night.  Very appetizing.
I am going:
to try to figure out how I can get all the projects that I was supposed to finish this school year completed in the next four days.  Since I didn't start any of them, this could be problematic.
I am hoping:
for a trip to the pool this week.
I am reading:
A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet by Sophie Hudson.  I'm loving it because she's a southern gal who tells family stories and I tell you what:  no one who can spin a yarn like a southern gal.
I am wondering:
if any of the other Loudoun South Little League moms heard the angels singing when they found this new addition to our Little League Park.

When I saw this miraculous event had actually happened, I looked to the heavens and recited Matthew 7:7:  "Ask and it will given to you; seek and you will find;  knock and the door will be opened to you . . . and then you will find real-live-honest-to-goodness-plumbing."  Except I'm not sure that last part is in my NIV version of the Word.  Still, the people said, "AMEN".
I am pondering:
the fact that since I have been sitting here the sun has come out and now my running shorts have to go outside and actually run.
I am looking forward to:
SUMMERTIME!! Four More Days.  Praise God.
A quote for today:
"The things that make God dear to us are not so much His great big blessings as the tiny things because they show His amazing intimacy with us;  He knows every detail of our individual lives" - Oswald Chambers in My Utmost for His Highest
I am praying:
prayers of gratitude for those tiny things: a 3 hour road trip with a 14 year old boy who defied the moody teenager formula by being a whole lot of fun to be around.  In those three hours we didn't necessarily have any deep conversations, but we sang and danced and legitimately cracked each other up.  Now that, my friends, is a tiny thing that turns into a great big thing.
On my Ipod:
Find a Way to My Heart by Phil Collins.  This is an old song that I had forgotten was on my Ipod until I was running last week.  I think it's a great song for graduates (and their moms and dads).  As I was running, I was also thinking about how God is always wanting us to remember that every, single day, no matter where we go or what we do, He will be waiting for us to find our way to His heart, too.
I am learning:
how valuable is a coach who shows restraint, dignity and class.  My boys have been blessed with more than their fair share of men like this.
A verse for today:
"You will pray to Him and He will hear you." - Job 22:27
One of my favorite things:
When someone in the family picks up something besides a bat once in awhile.

A few plans for the week:
My very favorite husband in all the world has a birthday on Thursday and I'm pretty sure that all he wants to be doing is coaching 3rd base in the Majors Little League Championship game.  But, SHHHH! because that would be known as the game which shall not be named since the semi-final game on Tuesday is the only one of which we can speak at this point.
A peek into my day:
Just be glad it's not a smell into my day.

I so enjoyed stopping by here today and having the opportunity to look into your heart a bit...the Lord, family, and caring for that family are the things I see that make your heart beat! And I LOVE it!

I also enjoyed your quote by Oswald Chambers...one of my favorites. Sometimes when I meditate on how God works out the very smallest of details in our lives it is just so mind boggling, but then again...He tells us that His thoughts are far above our thoughts so it should not be a surprise. Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Dianna
